Alok Equipments builds reactors and vessels in explosion-clad plate: a corrosion-resistant layer of stainless steel, nickel alloy, Monel, cupronickel or titanium bonded to a carbon or stainless steel backing.
Clad plate gives the corrosion resistance of the alloy at a fraction of the cost of a solid-alloy vessel, which is why large reactors in titanium or Hastelloy are usually built clad. Plate is to ASME SA-264, SA-265 and SB-898, up to 45 mm thick in total.
Clad bond integrity is verified by ultrasonic scanning. Recent work includes a 16 KL Hastelloy-clad reactor and a 5 m³ titanium-clad reactor.
