Titanium is chosen for chlorides, seawater, brine and oxidising acids, where even high-alloy stainless steels pit and crack. Recent work includes titanium heat exchangers for chemical and zero-liquid-discharge service and a 5 m³ titanium-clad reactor.
Titanium must be welded under full inert-gas shielding, so welding procedures and welders are qualified for it specifically, and every job is hydro-tested and released under third-party inspection.
